General Rules & Policies

  • Check in is at 2:00PM. We ask that you do not arrive early without prior arrangements. Please do not go down to your campsite before checking in and receiving a vehicle tag. Check out is at 11:00 AM. No late check-outs without prior authorization. There will be a $50.00 charge assessed to the card on file for guests who do not check out of cabins on time without making arrangements prior to check out. Our cabins are usually booked solid through the summer months and cleaning the cabin thoroughly for the next guest is a top priority.
  • Bedding, pillows and towels are not provided in the cabins. Don’t forget to pack these items! We provide trash bags, paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, sponge and kitchen linens. Cabins with kitchens are equipped with pots and pans, utensils, and dinnerware. Visit the Cabin page for a full listing of cabin descriptions and amenities.
  • Guests in cabins: please complete the housekeeping checklist posted in each cabin prior to checkout. A $30.00 cleaning fee will be assessed after check-out for guests who do not complete the list. Understand cleaning staff will always clean the cabin prior to the next guest’s arrival; however, it keeps costs down and things running smoothly when we are all good community members and do our part.
  • Lakeview Cabin, Woodsman Cabin and Shoreview Cabin are not pet friendly cabins. If you rented Lakeview Cabin, Woodsman Cabin or Shoreview Cabin you may not bring a dog – even if you plan on crating it outside. If you arrive with a pet and you have reserved one of these cabins, the reservation will be forfeited with no refund or credit.
  • Extra guests: The more the merrier! There is nothing that we like more than seeing friends and family gathering along the lake in the summer. If you have extra guests that join you or stop in for the day, please make sure to have them come and check in at the office, pay any fees, and get a vehicle tag.
  • Vehicles: Each vehicle must have a Visitor Tag displayed at all times when on the campground. Tags are given at check-in. If you have guests that visit you or join you later in your stay, please make sure they check in at the office and get a tag to display in their vehicle window.
  • Please do not wash your vehicles, boats, or campers. We are on a fixed water system at Seboomook. Many think we draw our water from Moosehead Lake. We do not. We have a well and a 3000-gallon cistern. Conservation is key at Seboomook.
  • Quiet hours begin at 9PM. We ask that all generators be shut down and outside music also be turned off. Please be a good Sebooma-community member. Occasionally a camper will happen through with a guitar or a uke and a singing voice. We absolutely love that! As long as there are no complaints, acoustic instruments and voices singing can extend past the 9PM quiet time until 9:30PM. If you are willing to host a campfire sing at your site, please let us know! That would be fabulous!! Please see our Generator Policy for personal generator use.
  • Trash Disposal: Trash Disposal is a complicated issue deep in the woods and we are attempting to keep that service in place but we need the entire beloved community’s help! In the spirit of trying to reduce the amount of waste that our Kingdom produces, this year we will only be accepting our own clear 13-gallon kitchen trash bags with our Seboomook logo on it. One trash bag for each day of your stay will be provided to each site reservation. We appreciate your help in reducing waste in the Kingdom. Seboomook trash bags and disposal services may be purchased by guests not staying on the campground. Please inquire at the desk.
  • No Fireworks on the campground. This is a Seboomook rule as well as a State of Maine rule. Seboomook Wilderness Campground is located on land owned and managed by the State of Maine Bureau of Public Lands and it is a state law that Fireworks are not allowed on BPL lands. We know that Fireworks are a fun way to celebrate the summer and we apologize for the inconvenience.
  • No discharge or use of firearms on the campground.
  • Please watch your children at all times. Seboomook Rd. runs right in front of the campground store and kids love to bike on it. The vehicles on Seboomook Rd are often not folks staying on the campground and they are not always aware of all of the kid traffic that might be about. Please help us keep everyone safe!

Pet Policy

· Dogs must be on leashes or a run at all times. Even the little ones. Even at your campsite.

· No breed restriction…just a leash.

· If you have an invisible fence that you have been successful using with your dog, you are welcome to use it at your site. We ask that you let us know that is how you will be meeting the leash requirement at your site and we ask also that you put a sign out indicating that your dog is contained by the fence so that other guests are aware. Seboomook Wilderness Campground reserves the right to disqualify the use of any Invisible Fence if issues arise that compromise the enjoyment of the campground for all.

· Lakeview Cabin, Woodsman Cabin and Shoreview Cabin are not pet friendly cabins. If you rented Lakeview Cabin, Woodsman Cabin or Shoreview Cabin you may not bring a dog – even if you plan on crating it outside. If you arrive with a pet and you have reserved one of these cabins, the reservation will be forfeited with no refund or credit.

· It against policy to leave pets in vehicles.

· Do not leave your dog unattended at your site or in your cabin or in your car if you should leave the grounds.

· Guests that are non-compliant with the Pet Policy will be asked to leave and will forfeit their reservation with no refund or credit.

Generators

· Generators may be used at Seboomook within the guidelines that follow. Seboomook Wilderness Campground reserves the right to disallow generators that interrupt the quiet tranquil experience that we wish to offer our guests.

· ALL generators must be off by 9:00 PM regardless of whether they are invertor or Whisper generators or generators that sound like the Harley that I would someday love to own.

· With that said, no generators allowed that sound like the Harley that I would someday like to own. The term quiet is relative. Please, please be considerate of the fact that everyone has to drive down that 33 miles of dirt road to get to the peaceful sounds of the waves rippling on Moosehead Lake and the loon calls. All generators off at 9PM.

· If you have a CPAP machine, there are multiple ways of camping off-grid with your CPAP. The thing that makes it easier at Seboomook is that we do have electricity at intervals so batteries used to operate CPAPs can be recharged. Here is one link to information and solutions regarding off-grid CPAP use. There are many resources. [Off-Grid MotoCamping with a CPAP - YouTube]

· Generators may not be operated from the bed of a truck or any other vehicle that it is not hard wired into.

· Please do not go out fishing for a few hours or for a ride through the woods and leave your generator on. Generators must be turned off when you leave the grounds.

Vehicles

· All vehicles must have a tag (provided at check-in) affixed to the rearview mirror at all times when on the campground. If you have guests that come to visit you at your site, it is your responsibility to ensure that they come up to the office and register, pay any fees, and get a vehicle tag.

· Each site has ample parking for at least one vehicle. If you have an extra vehicle or a trailer, we may need to park it somewhere other than your site. Not a big deal – and no charge for that! We ask for guest’s cooperation as we don’t want to crowd the shoreline sites and diminish the enjoyment for others.

· Please operate your vehicle on the campground roads ONLY. Please do not shortcut across the lawns or the grounds to visit other campers or to get to the bathhouse.

· Please do not wash your vehicles, boats, or campers. We are on a fixed water system at Seboomook. Many think we draw our water from the lake. We do not. We have a well and a 3000-gallon cistern. Conservation is key at Seboomook.

ATVs

· Yes! We allow ATVs!! And we are right at the beginning of the trail system – or at the end – depending on which way you are orienting yourself. The road between Seboomook and Pittston Farm is a Shared Use Road and ATVs may be operated on it as such. The ATV trail system may be accessed from the Shared Use Road.

· ATV’s on the campground must be operated on the campground roads only! Please do not shortcut across the lawns and grounds of the campground.

· All ATV laws must be observed while on the campground. This includes laws pertaining to children and helmets.

· No joy riding around and around and around the campground on your ATV. Park it at your site and use it out on the trails. You may use it as a transport to the bathhouse or to visit other groups camping on the grounds. We just ask that you not use the campground as a riding track. It disturbs other guests and creates massive amounts of dust in the air.
